Ryuta Abiru (Piano, Composition, Arrangement)
Profile:
Ryuta Abiru is a pianist, composer, and arranger.
He began studying the piano at an early age and attended Tokyo College of Music High School. graduating at the top of his piano class.
After graduating, he enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied jazz piano with Jeff Covell and classical piano with Ed Bedner.
He also studied Latin piano in Cuba with Sergio Noroña, (the pianist of Paulito FG、Grupo Niche), and Achy Lang
(Violinist of the Afro-Cuban Orchestra).
Since returning to Japan, he has performed in live shows, concerts, and studios, focusing on jazz and Latin music.
In addition to performing with various ensembles,
He has collaborated with numerous domestic and international artists, including Terai Naoko (violin), Charito (vocals), Joe Bataan (vocals), Calisto Obiedo (percussion), Giovanni Hidalgo (percussion), and César López (saxophone). Currently, in addition to his own group activities, he participates in NORA, the solo unit of Orquesta de la Luz's vocalist. His contributions to NORA's CD, 『¡Salud a la Vida!, ~Cheers to Life!, 』in which he participated in both the performance and arrangement, reached number one on the European streaming charts.
In 2024, he invited Perico Sambeat, a saxophonist and arranger from Spain, to Japan for a tour.
In 2025, he released the CD El Viento:
Solos & Duets with Perico Sambeat & NORA Suzuki.
To date, he has released seven CDs as a band leader, and his albums have been nominated for and won numerous awards.
As an arranger, he has contributed songs to various artists, including the Tokyo Cuban Boys, of which he is a member.
His playing style is praised for its unique blend of lyrical melodies rooted in bebop jazz and the dynamic energy of Latin music.

幼年よりピアノを学び、東京音楽大学付属高校に入学。志村安英氏に師事し、ピアノ科を首席で卒業。
高校時代にパーカッショニストの菅原裕紀に出会い衝撃を受け、ミュージシャンになる事を志す。
高校卒業後、アメリカ ボストンのバークリー音楽大学に入学し、ジャズピアノをJeff Covell（ジェフ コウベル）、クラシックピアノをEd Bedner（エド ベトナー）に師事。
キューバにてラテンピアノをパウリートFG、グルーポニーチェのピアニストセルヒオロニョーナ、アフロキューバンオーケストラのアルチェランに師事した。
帰国後ジャズやラテン音楽を基盤に、ライブ、コンサート、スタジオワーク等で活動。
様々なコンボでの活動の他に今まで、岸義和(tp )ビックバンド、稲垣貴庸(ds)ビックバンドなどに在籍し、ビックバンドプレイヤーとして、また、岸のりこ(vo)、山岡未樹(vo)、前川陽子(vo)、dorlis(vo)、雪村いずみ(vo)、エリック フクサキ(vo)など、歌手のサポートプレイヤーとしての評価も高く、寺井尚子(vil)、チャリート(vo)、ジョー・バターン(vo)、カリスト・オビエド(per)、 ジョバンニ・イダルゴ(per)、セサール・ロペス（sax)などの、国内外のアーティストとの共演歴も豊富。現在は自身のグループでの活動の他に、オルケスタ・デ・ラ・ルスのボーカリスト NORA(vo)のソロユニ ットなどにも参加し、演奏と編曲で参加したNORA の CD ¡Salud a la vida! ～人生に乾杯！～が、ヨーロッパの配信チャートで一位を獲得する。
2024年には、スペインからサックス奏者で作編曲家のPerico Sambeat氏を招聘し、日本ツアーを行う。
現在まで6枚のリーダーCDを発表し、アルバムがジャズデスク大賞にノミネート、 雑誌 男の隠れ家2012の特集<音楽の専門家が勧める 必聴 必見 のライブ盤 ジャズディスク34枚>にも選ばれ、自己のグループで、NHK The Session505に、2度出演する。
また編曲家として、バービーボーイズの杏子(vo) 「 恋するBAILA BAILA 作詞:湯川れい子 作曲:筒美京平」や、淡路島の蒼開中学校・高等学校の校歌の作編曲、所属する東京キューバンボーイズなどに作品を提供。
その演奏スタイルは、ジャズ(ビバップ)の基盤に裏付けされたリリカルな旋律と ラテンの躍動感が絶妙に交錯する独創性豊かなスタイルと評されている。
